Waiuku College Foundation Scholarships 

How To Apply

Waiuku College Foundation has two scholarships that are available for Waiuku College students to apply for each year. 

Before applying, please read the information regarding each scholarship. 

Please note that any incomplete submissions will not be considered by the foundation.

GEORGE FLAVELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

Ngaati Te Ata Waiohua Kaitiaki Scholarship ($1000) Sponsored by Waiuku College Foundation

The George Flavell Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually at the Waiuku College Po Whakanuia Awards, and it honours the legacy of George Flavell, a well-respected Kaumātua and Historian who embodied the values of a true Kaitiaki through his commitment to people, culture, community and the environment. 

This scholarship recognises a graduating Waiuku College student who consistently demonstrates Korowai Manaaki through care, respect, appreciation and service to others. It celebrates a student who makes a positive difference within their school, whaanau and wider community through their actions and contributions.

Waiuku College Foundation Scholarship ($1000)

The Waiuku College Foundation Scholarship is designed to recognise a student who demonstrates the values that contribute positively to the Waiuku College community. 

The scholarship celebrates a Year 12 or 13 student who shows strong character, commitment, leadership, respect for others, and a willingness to contribute positively to their school and wider community.

The scholarship is open to students of Waiuku College who can demonstrate how they live the college values through their actions, relationships, learning, leadership, service, or contribution to the school community. 

Applicants should be able to demonstrate the values that underpin the Waiuku College community. This includes showing respect by treating others with kindness, dignity, and understanding, acting with integrity by being honest, taking responsibility, and doing the right thing; and displaying commitment through determination and perseverance, particularly when faced with challenges. 

Applicants should also be able to demonstrate leadership by encouraging and supporting others and taking positive initiative, contributing meaningfully to Waiuku College and the wider community, and striving for excellence by achieving their personal best and inspiring others to do the same.
